BISKIT at National Blood Service Ghana

End of September 2022, the BISKIT consortium visited the National Blood Service Ghana (NBSG) in Accra, Korle-Bu. The two-day visit consisted of a workshop at the NBSG and a tour through the facilities of the drone company ZIPLINE. Within the Workshop with NBSG, the BISKIT team had the opportunity to present the project status quo and gather valuable feedback from an user perspective on the information system, android app, simulation environment, and our chatbot solution. We were able to conduct several surveys and a focus group interview in order to further improve our BISKIT system. With more than 20 people attending the workshop, we had the chance to receive a holistic feedback from the different departments within the NBSG. The consortium highly benefits from the input and expertise from the NBSG.

We very much appreciate the fruitful discussions and great hospitality by our Ghananian partners. We are looking forward to further strengthen the collaboration and work towards an possible implementation of BISKIT with the NBSG.

On the second day, we visited the drone station of ZIPLINE outside of Accra. ZIPLINE operates througout the country in delivering blood products to remote areas or in case of emergencies. Drones offer the opportunity to optimize transportation time and are also under investigation for the optimization and simulation moduls within the BISKIT project. Thank you very much for having us.
